About me

As a professionally trained and experienced life coach together with 30 years of experience in the birth world, I have the tools and knowledge to help you to create the life you imagine and live your life with a renewed sense of self. 

I began working as a doula in 1993.  At those first births, I was totally awed by the power and  strength of my clients.  I knew this was the place for me!

In 2002 I became an official Registered Ontario Midwife.  I have had the honour of serving many clients and their families since then. As I gathered people's stories I began to notice common themes of fear, mistreatment, disrespect and silencing.  I have never lost my sense of joy and wonder from those early days as a doula but my idealism was slowly overshadowed by the realities of people's experiences.  As a midwife I did my best to turn those stories around, provide some healing, and create the best new experiences and stories possible.

After 17 years I retired from midwifery.  Now, my passion for helping people through their reproductive journey is stronger than ever.  I have combined my knowledge of reproductive health, and labour and delivery, with certification in life coaching to create a mission of my  heart-felt goal of helping people regain the power and confidence they have lost along their own reproductive journey.

At first I though I didn't want children.  Then I changed my mind but found myself infertile.  It took 5 years before my daughter was conceived!

I expected pregnancy and delivery to be fairly uneventful but the universe has her own plans and I guess I had some lessons to learn.  Around 20 weeks I developed a torn ligament that had me nauseous after walking less than a block.  The I developed other complications that moved my planned home birth via ambulance to hospital and a c/section all within 3 hours.  It took years to accept those events.

Thirteen years later I found myself on the other side of the bed (so to speak) when my partner became pregnant with twins.  She suffered severe nausea and vomiting of pregnancy plus threatened preterm labour.  I felt so frustrated and so helpless.

A year later and she was expecting again.  This time only one baby but the nausea and vomitting was just the same as with the twins.  This time we both got our home birth but it was so fast that my partner is still trying to process events 8 years later.

We are so thankful for the donor whose generosity helped us grow our family that we wanted to do the same for others.  My partner became an altruistic egg donor.  One of her eggs has hatched and another is currently incubating with an expected hatch date of spring.

I appreciate so much how each stage of my journey has grown my compassion and my heart.  My wonderful midwifery clients have also been excellent teachers.  As I embark on this new career, I look forward to the lessons I will learn on this next stage of my journey.
